Nistar is a 116-page full color graphic novel about a superhero for children fighting cancer based on Jewish lore and mysticism. Nistar is an exciting story of a young doctor, JJ Barak, who discovers the Tsohar, a mystical stone with untapped powers. He attempts to harness its powers and save the life of a child with cancer. His journey takes him out of the cancer ward and into a parallel realm called Nistar (Hebrew for hidden”), a place where a person’s thoughts, dreams, fantasies and internal struggles actually have a physical form. Nistar draws on Frimer’s own experience with cancer, her knowledge of Jewish and kabbalistic sources and her love of comic books. The book is illustrated by renowned comic book artist Josef Rubinstein and Associates.
