Beyond Politics: Inspirational People of Israel
This is a collection of mini biographies of eighteen Israelis whose life stories and accomplishments the author finds fascinating and inspiring. The author has chosen sabras and immigrants, devout and secular, young and old, country folk and city dwellers; we read about a rabbi, a philanthropist, a soldier, a chef, and more. Together they represent a sampling of Israel’s diverse cultures and backgrounds. Although as the title proclaims, the author has no political agenda, the individuals portrayed certainly express strong ideas. Robinson, a journalist, was frustrated by the stereotypes of Israel and Israelis portrayed in the media. In this short, informative book she attempts to rights that unfair portrayal of the country and people she clearly loves. Suitable for young adults and up. Black and white photos.
