Authors are invited to be a part of the Jewish Book NETWORK. This arrangement connects authors, publishers, and program coordinators from around the country, allowing them to meet and greet through both the Jewish Book NETWORK Conference and the NETWORK’s booklet, Meet the Authors. With the help of program coordinators, the Jewish Book NETWORK sends more than 150 authors to over 80 communities nationwide.

The Jewish Book NETWORK Conference is a unique opportunity for authors to present their works in informal workshops and receptions as well as formal discussions and presentations as part of the Meet the Authors program. It is at these conferences that the NETWORK is put to work, connecting publishers, authors, and coordinators, and allowing coordinators to start planning for the upcoming Jewish Book Season. Following the conference, program coordinators contact the Jewish Book Council with their requests for specific dates for author presentations, and the Council then contacts each individual author to confirm his or her availability.

Authors may be a part of the NETWORK and not participate in the Conference, but it is not recommended because program coordinators often prefer to meet an author in person before they determine if that author is a suitable guest to visit their respective community. However, all authors in the NETWORK will have their books distributed to NETWORK members and their names and books will appear in the publication that is prepared by the NETWORK, both of which are used for programming and book-buying.

Authors interested in being a part of the NETWORK and the Meet the Authors program and Conferences must contact the Jewish Book Council in February or early March and go through an application process, which includes includes a participation/distribution fee and the submission of 80 copies of the author’s book. This application must be submitted by April.
