Epistolary Literature

Epistolary Literature can take many different forms: novels, anthologies, memoirs. Yet at the heart of all these books is the letters: the back and forth correspondence between people in a previous time, living in different worlds. They shine a light into parts unseen, illuminating a history that might have been lost to us save for their painstaking communications, written by firelight, in secret, to far away places, to loved ones. These letters are a record of the people that came before us and have much to show us about their history--but more importantly, about their humanity.
