Employment Opportunity: Digital Content Manager

Jewish Book Council consists of a small, dedicated team, and is looking for a new member who is passionate about literature, publishing, Jewish life, and the ways in which digital platforms can create new and exciting access points to Jewish life, identity, and culture.

JBC is currently interviewing candidates interested in managing JBC’s digital presence, helping the organization take its digital marketing and content strategy to the next level, expanding its audience and content, and contributing to all aspects of JBC’s programming.

A Manhattan-based not-for-profit, JBC is situated at the intersection of the Jewish community and the publishing world. JBC has promoted Jewish interest literature through its foundational program Jewish Book Month since 1925, and has added programs such as the National Jewish Book Awards, the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature, JBC Network author tours, book reviews, author seminars, book club resources, and more over the following decades to meet the needs of an ever-changing Jewish and publishing landscape.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of JBC website and ensure that site content is up-to-date
  • Strategically manage and implement JBC’s social media strategy and seek out new platforms for marketing content
  • Schedule and publish weekly digital content and write new content for the site as needed
  • Create and manage images to correspond with content
  • Use insights from Google Analytics and Google AdWords to promote site growth and updates
  • Manage growth and content creation of JBC’s weekly emails
  • Manage digital advertising campaigns
  • Coordinate all efforts with the editorial team


  • BA/BS degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Documents
  • Experience with Photoshop a plus, but not necessary
  • Writing experience (samples may be requested)
  • Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
  • Interest in learning how to manage Google Analytics and Google AdWords (previous experience a plus, but not required)
  • Aesthetically minded, creative, and has a love for digital content
  • Interested in and engaged with social media like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest
  • Meticulous editor
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture is a plus, but not required
  • Comfortable with the realities of working for a not-for-profit, including (but not limited to) working at JBC’s annual off-site three-day conference and annual writer seminars
