Ann Komaromi

Ann Komaromi is Associate Professor in the Centre for Comparative Literature at the University of Toronto. She is author of a book on underground novels in the Soviet Union, Uncensored: Samizdat Novels and the Quest for Autonomy in Soviet Dissidence, Northwestern University Press, 2015, which won the AATSEEL Award for Best Book in Literary/Cultural Studies. She created the electronic archive Project for the Study of Dissidence and Samizdat, for U of T Library Collections (2015). She is also author of an article on “Jewish Samizdat” (in The Jewish Movement in the Soviet Union, Woodrow Wilson Center Press, 2012); as well as an article on “Canadian Communist J.B. Salsberg and the Response to Soviet Jewry in the Wake of the Holocaust” (in Reconstructing the Old Country: American Jewry in the Post Holocaust Decades, Wayne State UP, 2017).
