Togeth­er they share adven­tures, hol­i­days, and cus­toms that show an immi­grant fam­i­ly remain­ing Jew­ish while becom­ing Amer­i­can. Oth­er books in the series include More All-of-a-Kind Fam­i­ly, All-of-a-Kind Fam­i­ly Uptown, All-of-a-Kind Fam­i­ly Down­town, and Ella of All-of-a-Kind Fam­i­ly. The impor­tance of these books in the devel­op­ment of Amer­i­can Jew­ish children’s lit­er­a­ture is rec­og­nized by the Asso­ci­a­tion of Jew­ish Libraries, which names both its children’s book award and its man­u­script for unpub­lished books in Syd­ney Taylor’s mem­o­ry.
