Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus have moved from Los Angeles to the sleepy college town of Greenbury in upstate New York. After many years as a detective in the LAPD, Decker is ready to slow down and enjoy life as a member of the Greenbury Police. While Rina finds life in a small town fulfilling, Decker is a bit restless: dealing with lost pets and drunken students is hardly a challenge. Add to the boredom a new partner, Tyler McAdams, who is a recent Harvard graduate with a major attitude, and Decker is beginning to wonder if the relocation was a mistake. Then he gets what may be a real case: a break-in at the local cemetery. It seems to be a false alarm, but Decker and McAdams discover that the burglarized family mausoleum has stunning Tiffany glass panels. Two of them have been replaced with forgeries. Then a young art student at one of the colleges is brutally murdered. As Decker and McAdams investigate, they find links between their two cases that lead them into the world of art theft, cold cases, and international intrigue. Readers will also get reports on the Decker/Lazarus children and grandchildren, who have also migrated east to pursue education and careers. Mystery lovers will enjoy the complex case and fans of the series will be happy to see that the family is doing well.
