Peter Deck­er and Rina Lazarus have moved from Los Ange­les to the sleepy col­lege town of Green­bury in upstate New York. After many years as a detec­tive in the LAPD, Deck­er is ready to slow down and enjoy life as a mem­ber of the Green­bury Police. While Rina finds life in a small town ful­fill­ing, Deck­er is a bit rest­less: deal­ing with lost pets and drunk­en stu­dents is hard­ly a chal­lenge. Add to the bore­dom a new part­ner, Tyler McAdams, who is a recent Har­vard grad­u­ate with a major atti­tude, and Deck­er is begin­ning to won­der if the relo­ca­tion was a mis­take. Then he gets what may be a real case: a break-in at the local ceme­tery. It seems to be a false alarm, but Deck­er and McAdams dis­cov­er that the bur­glar­ized fam­i­ly mau­soleum has stun­ning Tiffany glass pan­els. Two of them have been replaced with forg­eries. Then a young art stu­dent at one of the col­leges is bru­tal­ly mur­dered. As Deck­er and McAdams inves­ti­gate, they find links between their two cas­es that lead them into the world of art theft, cold cas­es, and inter­na­tion­al intrigue. Read­ers will also get reports on the Decker/​Lazarus chil­dren and grand­chil­dren, who have also migrat­ed east to pur­sue edu­ca­tion and careers. Mys­tery lovers will enjoy the com­plex case and fans of the series will be hap­py to see that the fam­i­ly is doing well.
