This book describes the life of Moses and his leadership of the Exodus from Egypt, with an explanation as to why he was not allowed to cross the Jordan River to die in the Promised Land. Although the Bible claims it was because he smote the rock = rather than speak to it at Meribah, the true reason was because his hands were tainted by the blood of the Hebrews he had to condemn to capital punishment for failing to follow the edicts of the Mosaic Code. As King David was not allowed to build the First Temple, Moses was forced to transfer the leadership of the Exodus to Joshua to maintain purity of the Holy Land.
