Randolph Splitter has published three other books, including a novel called The Ramadan Drummer and a psychoanalytic study of Marcel Proust. He grew up on Long Island, the child of refugees who left Vienna in 1938. He currently lives with his wife in Portland, Oregon, where he dodges raindrops, writes novels, and exercises his social conscience.
