This appealing board book celebrates Tu B’Shevat with a straightforward rhyming text and playful illustrations. On Tu B’Shevat / We plant a tree. / Cool green shade / For you and me./ Eat a picnic,/ Sing a song,/ Dance the Hora,/ Clap along.” A cool color palette is accented with bright reds, oranges, and yellows in four two-page spreads that have a slight wood- grained texture. Both text and illustrations convey a love of trees, the bounty they provide, and the care they require, with multi-ethnic families joyfully picnicking, playing, picking fruit, and planting new trees. Simple, and just right. Recommended for ages 1 – 4
