Why are Israeli and Amer­i­can Jews so drawn to India, Hin­duism and Bud­dhism? Not only do they par­tic­i­pate in ashrams and med­i­ta­tion ses­sions at home, they trav­el to India by the thou­sands, attract­ed by the exoti­cism, but also by an atavis­tic con­nec­tion dat­ing back to the great Per­sian empires and the Zoroas­tri­an reli­gion that con­nect­ed the peo­ple of Israel and India mil­len­nia ago, link­ing their reli­gions, myths, leg­ends, cus­toms, lit­er­a­ture, even lan­guages. Using per­son­al mys­ti­cal expe­ri­ences, the book pro­vides the his­to­ry, explains the reli­gions, shows their com­mon ori­gins, and gives aston­ish­ing exam­ples of par­al­lel symbolism.
