Paper Brigade Award for New Israeli Fiction in Honor of Jane Weitzman
This award seeks to honor an outstanding short work or excerpt of Israeli fiction published in Hebrew. Its goals are to introduce American readers to new Israeli writers, to help Israeli writers gain access to the American market, and to interest American publishers in publishing new Israeli fiction.
The inaugural winner of the Paper Brigade Award for New Israeli Fiction in Honor of Jane Weitzman was Maya Arad (Our Lady of Kazan), selected by guest judge and translator Jessica Cohen. A selection from the book can be found in the 2019 edition of Paper Brigade.
The 2020/2021 winner was Shimon Adaf (Mox Nox, translated by Philip Simpson). An excerpt from the book was published in the 2020/2021 issue of Paper Brigade.
