Hanukkah Lights is a sweet little board book, perfect for adults to read to the very youngest children to celebrate the holiday. Page one declares, It’s Hanukkah!” and the succeeding pages explain what we do each night of the holiday — light candles, eat latkes, play dreidel, give presents, eat chocolate gelt, sing, dance, play, share stories, and feast. The colorful and charming illustrations of diverse children effectively reinforce the text.

Baby hands will love turning the sturdy pages and toddlers will enjoy pointing out colors, shapes, and Hanukkah symbols as they share Hanukkah celebrations with their family and friends.

Paula Chaiken has worked and volunteered in a variety of capacities in the Jewish world — teaching in religious school, curating at the Spertus Museum, and serving on the boards of her JCC and Temple — for more than twenty-five years. The author of I Know Grandpa (Timber Grove Press, 2015), she also runs a boutique public relations consulting firm.
