Part of the publisher’s series on holiday parties, this picture book recaps basic information about Hanukkah and presents many creative ideas for celebration. Clear, colorful photographs of families enjoying the holiday accompany the text. Suggestions for party invitations, decorations and craft activities are presented in enough detail to enable children to successfully and enjoyably complete each project. A recipe for latkes is included. It would have been better to have included more substantive detail in some areas; traditional decoration colors are noted as blue, white, silver, and gold but no reason is given as to what these colors represent; sufganiyot are mentioned as a traditional treat with no reason given as to why. Nevertheless, the book succeeds as a fun, colorful resource for kids who want to celebrate a fun, colorful holiday with creativity and joy. A glossary, an index and a link to websites providing more information are included. Recommended for ages 7 – 10.
