The beautiful custom of dedicating a letter in a newly written Torah scroll to an individual as a special honor is described here in well-scanning rhyme with colorful, laminated illustration.

As the sofer (scribe) writes each letter on a new Torah parchment, the letter can be dedicated as a gift to someone special. A certificate to that effect can be written, framed, and presented to the honoree. In this book, a young boy tells a young girl that he was the recipient of such a gift and they connect this concept to the unity of the Jewish people.

This is part of a Chabad young children’s series with bright, appealing colors and wipe-clean laminated pages which presents an array of topics related to Jewish life. All boys are illustrated with kippot and groups of boys stand separately from groups of girls yet the overall feeling and spirit are inclusive.

Recommended for ages 2 – 5.
