Acclaimed English wood engraver Christopher Wormell has written a beautiful account of the Noah’s Ark story. Wormell’s striking woodcut illustrations illuminate the retelling of this biblical tale. Animals are introduced not by type, but by appearance or temperament, a unique direction for this familiar story. For example, below the illustrations of the mouse and the elephant are the words, From the small…to the large”, and the swan and the platypus are described as the familiar” and the strange”. The full page illustrations beautifully enhance the book. Detailed information about the featured animals follows the story. This one will be popular during group story time, as young children will delight in the large pictures and explanations of each animal. Highly recommended for ages 3 – 8.
