Sandy grew up in Win­nipeg in a com­mu­ni­ty much like Mira’s. She earned a BA in Eng­lish and an MD degree from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Man­i­to­ba. Sandy com­plet­ed an Inter­nal Med­i­cine res­i­den­cy at McGill Uni­ver­si­ty and her Neu­rol­o­gy Res­i­den­cy at the New York Hos­pi­tal-Cor­nell Med­ical Cen­ter. She cur­rent­ly lives and prac­tices Neu­rol­o­gy in Mill Val­ley, CA, near San Francisco.
