There seems to be a never-ending stream of books about the State of Israel and its status in the volatile Middle East. This new volume in the Opposing Viewpoints Series offers 24 evenly balanced, pro and con, arguments relating to Israel. The material is fully documented and consists of newspaper and periodical articles, speeches, and book excerpts by authoritative experts, policy makers, laypersons, and members of less mainstream organizations. They express their views on such subjects as Israel’s right to exist, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its relationship to global terrorism, Zionism, the security fence, racism, and U. S. support of Israel among others. A periodical bibliography of additional reading follows each chapter and discussion questions on each topic are included, along with a chronology, bibliography, websites, and an index. This is a useful and reliable book for middle school and high school students, but before buying it, be sure you don’t have others covering the same ground already in your collections. Ages 12 – 18.
