Brigitte Gold­stein earned a Ph.D. degree in Euro­pean His­to­ry from NYU. Before turn­ing to full-time fic­tion writ­ing, she taught his­to­ry and worked in pub­lish­ing. Death of a Diva is her fourth his­tor­i­cal nov­el. She is also the trans­la­tor of sev­er­al pub­lished lit­er­ary Ger­man works.
