Hank Idsin­ga was a mem­ber of the Toron­to Police Ser­vice from 1989 until 2024. After 15 years of Divi­sion­al work, he was assigned to the Homo­cide Squad in 2005 as a Detec­tive. 2011 he was pro­mot­ed to Detec­tive Sergeant, and in 2018 he was pro­mot­ed to Inspec­tor in charge of the Homi­cide Squad. He retired from polic­ing in 2024 and is cur­rent­ly work­ing part time as a Col­lege Instruc­tor and media com­men­ta­tor. Inspec­tor Idsin­ga is a two-time recip­i­ent of the Ontario Homi­cide Investigator’s Asso­ci­a­tion (OHIA) ​“Mike Matthews” Award and a recip­i­ent of OHIA’s Major Case Man­age­ment Award. He was named one of Toron­to Life magazine’s ​“50 Most Influ­en­tial Peo­ple” in 2018 and 2021.
