Hank Idsinga was a member of the Toronto Police Service from 1989 until 2024. After 15 years of Divisional work, he was assigned to the Homocide Squad in 2005 as a Detective. 2011 he was promoted to Detective Sergeant, and in 2018 he was promoted to Inspector in charge of the Homicide Squad. He retired from policing in 2024 and is currently working part time as a College Instructor and media commentator. Inspector Idsinga is a two-time recipient of the Ontario Homicide Investigator’s Association (OHIA) “Mike Matthews” Award and a recipient of OHIA’s Major Case Management Award. He was named one of Toronto Life magazine’s “50 Most Influential People” in 2018 and 2021.
