Her books have earned six starred trade reviews, been cho­sen as Junior Library Guild Selec­tions, and received awards such as Out­stand­ing Sci­ence Trade Book, Crys­tal Kite Award, Cook Prize Hon­or, and Par­ents’ Choice Gold Medal. Lau­rie has an MFA in Writ­ing from VCFA.
