Lisa Lucas began her career writ­ing for mag­a­zines and news­pa­pers before turn­ing her focus to lit­er­a­cy and pub­lic health. Her work has been fea­tured in pub­li­ca­tions from The Cana­di­an Pub­lic Health Asso­ci­a­tion, lit­er­a­cy orga­ni­za­tions, and hos­pi­tals across Cana­da. A recip­i­ent of the CIBC Children’s Mir­a­cle Mak­er Award for advanc­ing lit­er­a­cy among peo­ple with spe­cial needs, Lisa lat­er part­nered with illus­tra­tor Lau­rie Stein to cre­ate acclaimed children’s books explor­ing themes such as cli­mate change and refugees. Guid­ed by her belief that ​“kids appre­ci­ate authen­tic sto­ries that are hon­est and real,” Lisa has built a rep­u­ta­tion for writ­ing with emo­tion­al depth and integri­ty.
