Lisa Lucas began her career writing for magazines and newspapers before turning her focus to literacy and public health. Her work has been featured in publications from The Canadian Public Health Association, literacy organizations, and hospitals across Canada. A recipient of the CIBC Children’s Miracle Maker Award for advancing literacy among people with special needs, Lisa later partnered with illustrator Laurie Stein to create acclaimed children’s books exploring themes such as climate change and refugees. Guided by her belief that “kids appreciate authentic stories that are honest and real,” Lisa has built a reputation for writing with emotional depth and integrity. Her work has been recognized by The New York Times, Kirkus Reviews (starred), Publishers Weekly, and Indigo, and her books have been translated into multiple languages across Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Ping marks her debut in historical fiction and poetry for adult readers.
