Marc Michael Epstein is Mack­ie M. Paschall (1899) and Nor­man Davis Chair in Reli­gion and Visu­al Cul­ture and Direc­tor of Jew­ish Stud­ies at Vas­sar Col­lege. His book Skies of Parch­ment, Seas of Ink won the 2015 Nation­al Jew­ish Book Award in the arts cat­e­go­ry. Dur­ing the 1980s, Epstein was Direc­tor of the Hebrew Books and Man­u­scripts divi­sion of Sothe­by’s Judaica depart­ment, and he con­tin­ues to serve as a con­sul­tant to var­i­ous libraries, auc­tion hous­es, muse­ums, and pri­vate col­lec­tors through­out the world.
