Philip­pa Strum is Pro­fes­sor Emeri­ta at the City Uni­ver­si­ty of New York and a Pub­lic Pol­i­cy Schol­ar at the Woodrow Wil­son Cen­ter. Spe­cial­iz­ing in civ­il lib­er­ties and women and the law, she has lec­tured wide­ly across the U.S. and abroad, as well as at the U.S. Supreme Court. Her biog­ra­phy of Louis Bran­deis, the first Jew­ish jus­tice, was nom­i­nat­ed for the Pulitzer Prize.
