Faith Under Fire is a powerful memoir of identity, courage, and conviction in an era of rising antisemitism. Raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, in an Irish-Catholic family, Scott Hayes traces an unexpected journey that leads him toward a profound connection with the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Shaped by eleven years of active duty service in the U.S. Army, including deployments to Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq, Hayes learned the meaning of duty, moral clarity, and standing firm under pressure. Those lessons were tested on September 12, 2024, when Hayes became the victim of a violent attack during a pro-Israel solidarity rally. In the aftermath, he found himself navigating physical recovery, legal battles, and intense public scrutiny — forcing him to confront questions of faith, resilience, and personal responsibility. Blending personal history, military experience, and contemporary events, Faith Under Fire offers a deeply human story about standing for truth even when the cost is high. Hayes delivers a compelling narrative about moral courage, allyship, and the enduring importance of Jewish identity in today’s world.
