The Lil­lian Gold­man Lit­er­ary Series presents the sec­ond in an already wide­ly praised series of staged read­ings explor­ing the expe­ri­ences of love, well-being and loss through the eyes of New York Jew­ish authors. The evening fea­tures Nicole Krauss read­ing from her wide­ly acclaimed sto­ry, The Last Words on Earth” from her nov­el The His­to­ry of Love. Not­ed author Dorothy Gal­lagher will read from How I Came Into My Inher­i­tance and Strangers in the House. Jonathan Rosen, edi­to­r­i­al direc­tor of NEXT­BOOK, will read from his nation­al best­seller, The Life of the Skies and Alix Kates Shul­man from her mem­oir, To Love What Is: A Mar­riage Trans­formed. Stage and screen actress Kath­leen Chal­fant and a won­der­ful sup­port­ing cast will bring their tal­ents to bear. Cel­list Stephanie Win­ters will per­form musi­cal inter­ludes using her instru­ment to pro­vide a vari­ety of musi­cal forms, styles and settings.

Orig­i­nal­ly from Lan­cast­er, Penn­syl­va­nia, Nao­mi is the CEO of Jew­ish Book Coun­cil. She grad­u­at­ed from Emory Uni­ver­si­ty with degrees in Eng­lish and Art His­to­ry and, in addi­tion, stud­ied at Uni­ver­si­ty Col­lege Lon­don. Pri­or to her role as exec­u­tive direc­tor, Nao­mi served as the found­ing edi­tor of the JBC web­site and blog and man­ag­ing edi­tor of Jew­ish Book World. In addi­tion, she has over­seen JBC’s dig­i­tal ini­tia­tives, and also devel­oped the JBC’s Vis­it­ing Scribe series and Unpack­ing the Book: Jew­ish Writ­ers in Conversation.
