Ruper­to Long is a writer, engi­neer and politi­cian. He was award­ed the Order of Arts and Let­ters of the French Repub­lic, and the Zor­ril­la de San Martín Medal of Mer­it. His best­seller The Girl Who Watched the Trains Depart was pub­lished in more than 20 coun­tries. He was sen­a­tor and pres­i­dent of the Nation­al Elec­tric­i­ty Com­pa­ny, and min­is­ter of the Audit Court. He is a mem­ber of the Hon­or Coun­cil of the Holo­caust Memo­r­i­al Cen­ter, CEO of ILAN in Uruguay and co-founder of the Israel Allies Foun­da­tion (Library of the Con­gress, 2007). He received the Jerusalem Award in 2012.
