Ruperto Long is a writer, engineer and politician. He was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic, and the Zorrilla de San Martín Medal of Merit. His bestseller The Girl Who Watched the Trains Depart was published in more than 20 countries. He was senator and president of the National Electricity Company, and minister of the Audit Court. He is a member of the Honor Council of the Holocaust Memorial Center, CEO of ILAN in Uruguay and co-founder of the Israel Allies Foundation (Library of the Congress, 2007). He received the Jerusalem Award in 2012.
