Strom has done exten­sive research among the Jews and Roma of East­ern Europe since the 1980s. He is one of the lead­ing experts on klezmer his­to­ry and cul­ture in the world. His work has result­ed in 15 books, 11 doc­u­men­tary films, 2 audio dra­mas, and many pho­to exhibitions.
