The Vet Will See You Now is best described as Kitchen Confidential meets All Creatures Great and Small. Using stories as a backdrop, the book delivers current veterinary information that every pet owner needs. It is a behind the scenes view of a veterinary hospital showing readers what happens on the other side of the employees only” door. The stories are irreverent, bitingly satirical on occasion, often humorous, and sometimes tragic. Every story has a purpose, as does every chapter. The target audience is anyone who loves their pets. It is a compilation of what Barak has learned after thirty-five years in this profession. It delivers the information that people have been wanting all those years in a pleasure to read format. The book is meant as a reference of sorts, but also as a good read. The book chronicles Barak’s life with pets. From a childhood in Israel, to a stint in Zurich, Switzerland, for three years, to the great city of Yonkers, New York. It is in a very small way the story of Barak’s life with animals and what he has learned through each of the health disorders he’s treated in his own pets.
