Gabe Oppenheim has previously authored The Ghost Perfumer, an inside look at the workings of the fragrance industry (and a small expose of one particular charlatan of that business), as well as Boxing in Philadelphia, an account of fighters, past and present, of that gritty city. He is also the creator of DCU: Deep Crime Unit, a television drama that aired on Tokyo Broadcasting System in Japan in 2021. He lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his partner (alongside several desiccating radiators).
