Role Overview:

Nu Reads, a bimonth­ly Jew­ish book sub­scrip­tion series curat­ed by Jew­ish Book Coun­cil is seek­ing a cre­ative, orga­nized, and com­mu­ni­ty-mind­ed Mar­ket­ing & Social Media Man­ag­er to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is per­fect for a strate­gic sto­ry­teller who is pas­sion­ate about Jew­ish lit­er­a­ture and excels at build­ing dig­i­tal com­mu­ni­ties. You will be respon­si­ble for ele­vat­ing our brand pres­ence, fos­ter­ing deep engage­ment with our sub­scribers, and dri­ving growth through inte­grat­ed dig­i­tal mar­ket­ing efforts.

Key Respon­si­bil­i­ties

  1. Social Media Man­age­ment & Con­tent Creation
  • Devel­op and main­tain a con­sis­tent social media cal­en­dar across pri­ma­ry plat­forms (Insta­gram, Face­book, etc.).
  • Cre­ate engag­ing, high-qual­i­ty con­tent that high­lights our book selec­tions, author spot­lights, and the val­ue of our sub­scrip­tion series.
  • Design visu­al assets for events, book announce­ments, and hol­i­day-themed campaigns. 
  1. Com­mu­ni­ty Engagement
  • Active­ly mon­i­tor and respond to com­ments, mes­sages, and men­tions to fos­ter a wel­com­ing and vibrant community.
  • Ini­ti­ate dis­cus­sions around Jew­ish themes, lit­er­a­ture, and cul­ture to deep­en the rela­tion­ship between the brand and its followers.
  • Iden­ti­fy and col­lab­o­rate with lit­er­ary influ­encers and com­mu­ni­ty partners.
  • Assist with build­ing and grow­ing our book club ambas­sador program
  1. Newslet­ter Strat­e­gy & Execution
  • Own the end-to-end email mar­ket­ing process, work­ing with the direc­tor on the edi­to­r­i­al plan­ning, and man­ag­ing execution.
  • Write com­pelling copy for sub­scrip­tion reveals, curat­ed read­ing lists, and com­mu­ni­ty updates.
  • Seg­ment audi­ences to improve open rates and tai­lor con­tent to dif­fer­ent read­er interests.
  1. Paid Media & Growth (Option­al but Preferred)
  • Man­age and opti­mize paid social cam­paigns (specif­i­cal­ly Instagram/​Meta Ads) to dri­ve new subscriptions.
  • Expe­ri­ence with looka­like audi­ences and inter­est-based tar­get­ing with­in the lit­er­ary or Jew­ish com­mu­nal space is a sig­nif­i­cant plus.
  • Track and report on key per­for­mance met­rics (ROI, CPA, and engage­ment rates).

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions

  • Expe­ri­ence: Social media man­age­ment, dig­i­tal mar­ket­ing, and com­mu­ni­ty building.
  • Lit­er­ary & Jew­ish Cul­ture Inter­est: A gen­uine love for books and a deep famil­iar­i­ty with Jew­ish cul­ture, tra­di­tions, and con­tem­po­rary literature.
  • Tech­ni­cal Skills: Pro­fi­cien­cy in email mar­ket­ing plat­forms (e.g., Mailchimp), social media sched­ul­ing tools, and basic graph­ic design.
  • Com­mu­ni­ca­tion: Excep­tion­al writ­ing and edit­ing skills with the abil­i­ty to adapt tone for dif­fer­ent platforms.

Posi­tion Details

  • Hours: Part-time (approx. 15 – 20 hours per week).
  • Loca­tion: Remote / Flex­i­ble, Must be avail­able dur­ing day­time work­ing hours. 
  • Report­ing to: Pro­gram Director
